Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Quirx
General Questions
What is Quirx?
Quirx is a Chrome browser extension that helps developers and QA teams capture bugs and create issues quickly. It integrates directly with GitLab, Jira, Asana, and Trello, allowing you to capture screenshots, record videos, and automatically include contextual information in your bug reports.
How much does Quirx cost?
Quirx is currently in beta and is completely free to use. We're focused on building a great product and gathering feedback from our early users.
Which platforms does Quirx support?
Quirx currently integrates with GitLab, Jira (Atlassian Cloud), Trello, and Asana. We're planning to add support for GitHub, Basecamp, Monday.com, and other popular project management tools in the future.
Is my data safe with Quirx?
Yes! Quirx stores all your data locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage APIs. We don't have servers, so your authentication tokens and configurations never leave your device. Data is only transmitted when you explicitly create an issue on your chosen platform.
Installation & Setup
How do I install Quirx?
Visit the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". Once installed, click the Quirx icon in your browser toolbar to get started.
How do I connect to GitLab/Jira/Trello/Asana?
Open the Quirx extension, click "Add Project", select your provider (GitLab, Jira, Trello, or Asana), and follow the OAuth authorization flow. You'll be asked to grant Quirx permission to create issues on your behalf. The entire process takes less than 30 seconds.
Can I connect to multiple projects?
Yes! You can create multiple project configurations and easily switch between them. This is perfect if you work on multiple projects or use different platforms for different teams.
Do I need to provide API keys?
For GitLab, Jira, and Asana, Quirx uses OAuth 2.0, so you don't need to manually manage API keys. For Trello, the extension uses OAuth as well for a seamless setup experience.
Features
What types of screenshots can I capture?
Quirx can capture the visible area of the current page or let you select a specific region. Screenshots are automatically included when you create an issue.
How does video recording work?
Click the record button in the Quirx popup to start recording your screen. When recording, Quirx also captures console logs to provide additional debugging context. Stop recording when you're done, and the video will be attached to your issue.
What contextual information is captured?
Quirx automatically includes the current page URL, browser information (user agent), timestamp, and console logs (when recording video). This helps developers reproduce and fix bugs faster.
Can I edit the issue details before submitting?
Yes! Before creating an issue, you can edit the title, description, select labels, assignees, and more depending on your platform. Quirx pre-fills the details to save you time, but you have full control.
Troubleshooting
Why can't I capture screenshots on certain pages?
Chrome extensions have limitations on certain pages for security reasons, including chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and some other browser-specific pages. This is a browser limitation, not a Quirx issue.
My OAuth connection expired. What should I do?
Quirx automatically refreshes OAuth tokens when they expire. If you see an authentication error, try disconnecting and reconnecting to your platform through the Quirx settings.
The extension isn't working. How do I reset it?
You can reset Quirx by going to the extension settings and deleting your project configurations. If issues persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
How do I report a bug in Quirx itself?
Visit our feedback page and let us know about any issues you encounter. We actively monitor and respond to all feedback.
Privacy & Security
Does Quirx collect any analytics or telemetry?
No. Quirx does not collect analytics, telemetry, or track your browsing activity. We respect your privacy and only use the data you explicitly choose to include in your bug reports.
Where are my OAuth tokens stored?
All OAuth tokens are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. They are never transmitted to any third-party servers except when making authenticated API calls to your chosen platforms.
Can I revoke Quirx's access to my accounts?
Yes! You can revoke access at any time from your GitLab, Jira, Asana, or Trello account settings. You can also delete project configurations directly from the Quirx extension settings.
Is Quirx open source?
Not currently, but we're considering open-sourcing the project in the future. We believe in transparency and are committed to maintaining the highest security standards.
